In the spring of 1913 and 1914, Weber spent a month in Ascona on Monte Verità in order to cure himself, lose weight and at the same time act as lawyer for an acquaintance (Frieda Gross) in a complicated trial that went on for years. He found the colourful world of life reformers, ‘magic women’ and anarchists who met at Monte Verità an ‘oasis of purity’, and as a ‘Max lost in strange fairy-tale worlds’ he greeted his wife from there.

In 1909 Max Weber became an extraordinary member of the Academy of Science and Letters in Heidelberg and from 1918 an external member.

Nella primavera del 1913 e del 1914, Weber trascorse un mese ad Ascona sul Monte Verità per curarsi, dimagrire e allo stesso tempo fare da avvocato a una conoscente (Frieda Gross) in un complicato processo che si protrasse per anni. Trovava il mondo variopinto dei riformatori della vita, delle “donne magiche” e degli anarchici che si riunivano al Monte Verità un'”oasi di purezza”, e come un “Max perso in strani mondi favolosi” salutava da lì la moglie.

Nel 1909 Max Weber divenne membro straordinario dell’Accademia delle Scienze e delle Lettere di Heidelberg e dal 1918 membro esterno.
